STATEMENT OF FAITH

God

I believe in one God, Creator of all things, holy and eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things new for His own glory. (Genesis 1:26-27, Matthew 28:18-20, John 1:1-5, 1 Peter 1:18-21)

The Bible

I believe in the verbally inspired Word of God, written by human authors, inerrant in the original writings and is the complete revelation of His will for salvation and is the means by which we acknowledge and submit to the Spirit for our sanctification. (2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

The Human Condition

I believe that God created Adam and Eve in His image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan. As descendants of Adam, human beings are sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God and under His wrath. Only through God’s saving work in Jesus Christ can we be rescued, reconciled, and renewed. (Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 3:1-7, Romans 5:12-21)

Jesus Christ

I believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man. Jesus was conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified, descended into hell, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High Priest and Advocate. (Luke 1:26-35, John 1:14, Acts 1:9, Acts 2:31, Acts 3:13-16, Hebrews 1:1-4)

The Work of Christ

I believe that Jesus Christ shed His blood on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His atoning death and victorious resurrection constitute the only ground for salvation. (Isaiah 53:5-6, Galatians 3:13, 1 Corinthians 15:55-57)

The Holy Spirit

I believe that the Holy Spirit, in all that He does, glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ. He convicts, draws to faith, and regenerates sinners. In Him, believers are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God. He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips, and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service. (John 16:8-14, Ephesians 1:13-14, Romans 8:9, Romans 8:12-17, Acts 1:8, Galatians 5:22-23)

The Church

I believe that the true church comprises all who have been justified by God’s grace through faith alone in Christ alone. They are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, of which He is the Head. It is within the church that believers are nourished, drawn to faith, and tangibly experience the Gospel. (Ephesians 1:22, Ephesians 2:13-22)

Christian Living

I believe that God’s justifying grace must not be separated from His sanctifying power and purpose. By the enabling of the Spirit, God commands us to love Him supremely and others sacrificially and to live out our faith with care for one another, compassion toward the poor, and justice for the oppressed. In obedience to Christ’s commission, we are to make disciples among all people, always bearing witness to the gospel in word and deed. (John 6:44, Acts 1:8, Romans 6:1-2, 1 Corinthians 6:11, Galatians 2:16, Ephesians 4:11-15, Micah 6:8, John 14:15)

Christ’s Return

I believe in the personal, bodily, and glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ at a time known only to God the Father. (Matthew 24:30-31, Matthew 24:36, Luke 21:25-28)
